An Experiment To Investigate That Some Parts Of Air Is Use Up In Burning

Apparatus and Materials required
1) Through
2) Gas jar or measuring cylinder
3) Candle
4) Matches
5) Water

Procedure
1) Light the candle and position it in the middle of the trough.

2) Pour some water into the trough to a low level

3) Place gas jar over the lit candle

4) Note the level of the water in a gas jar

5) Leave the candle to burn

Observation
After a while the candle goes out.
At the same time the water in the gas jar rises

Conclusion
The rise of the water level in the gas jar shows that part of the air in the gas jar has been used up and that water has been sacked in to take it's place.
