Oral Cancer


Oral cancer is a disease in which harmful body cells grow rapidly and invade healthy tissue in a person’s mouth.
The signs of oral cancer are redness around or in the mouth that does not heal in two or three weeks. white, scaly patches in or around the mouth, swellings or lumps in or around the mouth, numbness or pain in the mouth, bleeding in the month with no cause.

Drinking alcohol and smoking or chewing tobacco are habits which increase the risk of oral cancer. A dentist checks for oral cancer during a dental checkup.
