Soursop


Soursop is a fruit produced by the plant known as Annona muricate. Annona muricate is a flowering plant with broad green leaves. 


Note: There have been some theories circulating around, suggesting that, soursops can help cure cancer but no reviewed medical evidence have been produced yet to confirm those theories.

The soursop tree (Annona muricate) belongs to the kingdom Plantae, order magnolias, family annonaceae, Genus annona and species A.muricata.

Other names of soursops.
Other names of soursops include guyabana and graviola. It is often referred to as guan√°bana in Spanish.
In Ghana, it is called aluguntum and aluguntugui in Krobo and Twi respectively.


Adaptation.
Soursop trees leaves could be damaged when the temperature is below 5 °C.
The fruit itself can dry completely if the temperature is below 3°C.

Vitamins in soursop.
The soursop fruit is known to contain certain vitamins. Some of these vitamins are Vitamin B1, vitamin B2 and vitamin C.

The soursop seed.
The soursop seed contains compound known as annonacin. According to scientific research, annonacin is neurotoxin which has been linked to a neurodegenerative disease.

Annonamine is known to be found in the leaves of the soursop tree leaves.
