Things to do in Accra, Ghana (Volume I)


You are planning to visit Accra or already in Accra and wondering about what to do and where to hangout either solo or with friends? Well, put on your  reading glasses because I'm going to show you some of the coolest things to do and some absolutely amazing places that is just right and suitable for hangouts.
Accra is a city that is extremely full of diversities and these diversities, runs through pretty much everything the city has to offer.
Beaches, nightclubs, art and craft markets, and museums, are among  the many things this colourful city has in-store for everyone.

Now let us take a look at the thing you can do in the colourful city of Accra:

1. Visit the Labadi beach.

The Labadi beach is undoubtedly the most popular, active, and busiest beach in the whole of Ghana. Random Rastafarians singing reggae, acrobatic performances by kids, horse riding, swimming and many other activities should be expected whenever you are visiting this beach.
Pamper yourself with a cool drink on a sunny day and just relax under one of the summer huts lined up along the shores of the beach.

The best days to go to the Labadi beach is probably Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Those are the days that the fun can sometimes continue deep into the night.

2. Go dancing.
Which type of dance are you really good at? Is it salsa, bachata, kizomba, or semba? Just put on your dancing shoes and hit town at night.

3. Head to the Republic bar and grill at night.
The Republic bar and grill located in Osu is one of the most popular nightclubs in Accra. It provides an open space where you can sip any kind of drink including special cocktails with friends or just random people and have good talk while listening to music being played by experienced DJs. Sometimes live performances by well known musicians happens there as well.

4. Explore Jamestown and Usshertown

Jamestown and Usshertown are literally among the oldest settlements in Ghana; this is evident by the oldest buildings that dates back to the 17th century.
There are a lot of colonial era structures that are still in good shape in these towns.
The Lighthouse should be one of your main visit focus.
Make sure to carry your camera along because you are definitely going to need it to capture some spectacular, lively and amazing photos.
