India is now the second largest smartphone market in the world, surpassing the U.S.



Did you know that the US was the second largest smartphone market in the world some years back? Well, they were but they have been overtaken by India now.

Counterpoint Research has brought out a new report which proved that India is now the second largest smartphone market surpassing the United States which is now at number 3. The report shows that 158 million devices were shipped to India in only 2019!

China is still of course the number one  largest smartphone market in the world.

India swift move to the second spot is as a result of budget priced smartphones manufactured by Chinese tech companies like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and Realme; devices from this companies makes up about 72 percent of the entire 150 million devices shipped to India in 2019.

There was an increase in the purchase of Apple devices due to the release of the iPhone 11 series devices.
