Credit: Wikihow

Have you been having quite a lot of hiccups lately? Are you wondering why? Well, it could be as a result of several conditions you aren't even paying attention to.

The following are some conditions that may be the cause of your recent, frequent hiccups:

1. Eating too fast.
When you are eating too quickly, you tend to swallow too much air with the food. And that can result in unnecessary hiccups.

2. Excessive eating of foods that are truly spicy or contain too much fat.

3. Excessive intake of alcohol or carbonated drinks.

4. Diseases and disorders associated with the liver or lungs can cause hiccups.

5. Abdominal surgery.

6. Strokes and brain tumors.

7. Noxious fumes.

8. Temperature change can also be the cause sometimes.

9. Excitement.

 10. People on medications such as diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), and lorazepam (Ativan), Levodopa, nicotine, and ondansetron (Zofran) can experience hiccups as  side effects.
