How to get rid of hiccups

The involuntary contractions of the diaphragm, hiccups, can be very annoying. They often happen when you least expect them.

There are no scientifically proven remedies yet but there are numerous home remedies that are being used by people to perfectly get rid of them.

The following are a few of such tremendous remedies:

1. Simply alter the cycle of your breath.
Doing this can help calm down the diaphragm hence result in a reduction of the hiccups. Some ways you can alter your breath: hold your breath, breath into a paper bag, pull knees to your chest and lean forward.

2. Sip a cold water.
Sipping of cold water has been known to be very effective.

3. Pull on your tongue.
Avoid pulling the tongue so hard to avoid any sort of complications.

4. Gargle ice water.

5. Rub the back of your neck.

6. Spontaneous laughter is one of the best remedies.

7. Slowly drink a glass of water.

8. Let someone frighten you because a little scare is known to be very effective.

9. Gently bite on a lemon.
